| hey everyone! I've been gone from Xanga so long that it just took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to post a new entry. I probably should be a little embarrassed about that, but in all honesty, it's been a long day and I got a good laugh out of it =)
So what's new? Not too much is going on here. I am spending yet another summer at the RPP (Rolf Park Pool). When I'm not working, I'm either reviewing stuff for my Praxis tests, lesson planning for this fall's student teaching (at Rossford High School), or hanging out relaxing.
Unfortunately, that is all the time I have to update-- however, I told Stephy I'd help her bring Xanga back, so here's my contribution. I will do my best to post some stuff this summer...
Hope all is well with you!

| Question: If you were able to have one wish granted, what would you wish for?
Now, imagine that you were in a desperate situation, i.e. lost in a city, lost a loved one, or iway over your head in class work. Would you still wish for the same thing as above?
It's the wishes that you make in the second situation that count, and what is even more important, is that you can fulfill those wishes without them being granted to you. Tell someone you love them, for it might your last chance, study for exams a few weeks in advance, just ten minutes a day could help you two weeks before finals *wink, wink*, lastly, carry a map ;p.
Don't keep yourself wishing...

| From Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, by Gregory Maguire.
"How can you compare one beautiful thing to another?"
- "Good question. Is there a relative value of beauty? Is evanescence-- fleetingness -- a necessary element of the thing that most moves us? A shooting star dazzles more than the sun. A child captivates like an elf, but grows into grossness, an ogre, a harpy. A flower splays itself into color -- the lilies of the field -- more treasured than any painting of a flower. But of all these things, woman's graces, shooting stars, and paintings, only a painting endures."
"But words endure too. You quote the Bible text about the lilies of the field. Those very lilies that Christ taught about are dead for centuries, but His words live. And what about the kind act, as my mother said? My mother the crab, the irritant in the oyster, what about what she said? The small gesture of charity? Isn't that sort of beauty more beautiful than any other?
-"And equally evanescent for small charities cannot this wicked world amend. But perhaps charity is the kind of beauty that we comprehend the best because we miss it the most." | | |
| Ever think about how many choices you make in one day? Heck, typically your choices begin the night before. Don't believe me? What time should you get up in the morning? What all do I need to get done tomorrow? Then in the A.M. your alarm goes off. At that point you make your first decision: get up, hit the snooze, just fall back asleep without thought. What attitude are you going to start your day with: content, depressed, overwhelmed? Do you eat breakfast, well what do you have for breakfast? Etc.
I hate decisions; however, there are times in your life that you are forced to decide what to do. I am now currently facing a big one... at the end of this week, I will no longer be employed. Normally, I would begin to work with the high school band in a few weeks, but due to scheduling issues I've decided to sit this season out.
I haven't had a work-free fall semester since I started college. At first it sounds awesome. No worries concerning scheduling sectionals, where to fit in my homework, and most importantly the answer to "hey do you want to go to...," "hey can you..." is more likely to be yes. It would be wonderful to just enjoy marching band...
On the other hand. I don't have tons of money saved up in the bank. Will I go broke if I don't work? No. I would just hate to see all the money that I've worked so hard for go towards food, movies, or gas. GAS eats ALL my money... When I don't have a job I feel cheap. I don't want to drive any where, and there are times where I just don't feed myself when I'm hungry because I don't want to buy a candy bar.
Is it better for my sanity (or insanity depending on your opinion of me. lol) to get a job? When will I work? who knows... I guess it's in God's hands and I'll look for opportunities to present themselves.
Umm if you have read this far, thanks for listening to my venting.

| hey everyone! Hmm so it's been awhile hasn't it...
1) I took a two week class, Content Area Reading. It met Mon.-Fri. from 9am-12:45pm. Yeah, you heard me 3.75 hours. It was not enjoyable. The teacher practically hated me. If you haven't heard my group project story, just ask and I might inform you. This class ran from June 5th to June 16th, and guess what, I have yet to receive any grades for the 10 assignments that I turned in. Lame, huh?
2) I've been working at Rolf Park Pool about 30 hours a week. I've had my fair share of stupid, angry, and rude people; bigger than healthy children; and busy work to last me a lifetime. Any questions? Yeah, I didn't think so...
3) Brian and I have done lots of cool stuff. Some of it being, Cedar Point, Kingwood Center, and Miniature Golf. I can't wait for him to be back in Toledo. =)
4) Working out. I've been trying to do some physical activity every day, simply because that is what everyone should do.
so hmmm 3 and a half more weeks until Band Camp, and this geek is ready! Now, for the school part, I'm not so thrilled. Anyone want to employ me for 3 hours a week this fall? ha ha
Take care guys! | | |
